"LINDOS BLU" - 5* LUXURY RESORT, RHODES ISLAND - GREECE

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The Consulting Firm Thymio Papayannis and Associates Inc. was commissioned in 2006 by “D. Kalioudakis – M. Roditis SA” for the design of a new modern luxury hotel (5*) at Vlycha of Lindos on Rhodes island.

The hotel is constructed on a plot covering a total area of 1,320 sq.m. The designs were prepared taking into account the specifications and the requirements as well as the following factors that determine the:

• Accessibility to the specific plot that is found on a steep slope.
• Visual escapes – unimpeded view from the amphitheatrical plot.
• The image of the new hotel that penetrates into sensitive scenery. The presence of the future building in the natural landscape, its connection to the nearby archaeological-cultural environment.
• The orientation of the buildings and open spaces of the surrounding area and the climatic conditions.

Functional Organisation:
In brief, space entities are distinct by reference to the vertical axis:

• Main building section. Access to the hotel’s building complex is affected from the south side towards the street. The main building comprises the restaurant, the Convention Centre facilities, the SPA and the E/M installations, the hotel’s main pool and the sundecks.
• Accommodation wings (5 building sections). The five distinct accommodation entities (wings) are developed on each side of the centre axis and are two-floors high with or without a basement.

The overall capacity of the accommodation wings is 38 double (twin) rooms, 6 triple rooms and 4 rooms with facilities for the disabled, namely 110 beds or 52 keys.

The total hotel area is approximately 9,000 m².
Total budget approximately € 6,5 million.

The works have been completed at the end of August 2008. The inauguration of the hotel will take place in the mid of May 2009.
